Let's be clear here - Dumbledore was expecting Pettigrew to make his appearance. That old guy has wits in him yet!

Chapters like these are special though. If you've read any of robst's works pretty much all of his are like that in some ways...

"Yes. It's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true. The bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies and... everybody lives happily ever after."

A lot of authors like to have a wonderful Yule/Christmas chapter then have some devestating or nefarious plot show up as a cliffhanger at the end of the chapter. It gets old because you're almost expecting it. Didn't happen this time and I was pleasantly happy so kudos!

That was nice, but I can't understand Harry's lack of hormones for Hermi or Daphne or why he seems to be so attracted to the "little girls."

I've ead a lot of fics, but never seen a "Harry freeing the elves by powering them" plotline. Facinating :-)

This is actually an excellent chapter. Shows the Wizards can get a brain. I wonder if VM cast a 'Make everyone idiots' curse to go with his taboo during the first war which never broke - like the DADA curse.

In this story, Harry's personal power is greater than VM's, thus eroding the curse.

I like how HP and crew are doing their own thing and not responsible for fixing everything - HP's focus is on Smithing and making Legendary weapons, not Saving everybody at the last minute through coincidences.

I liked it. I always have your fics on subscribe and they never let me down :-)

The relaxed day was just what the doctor ordered.

Another brilliant installment! Some may characterize this as filler, but I would disagree with that statement. This is character development at its core best. Fleshing out the human elements of a character is often harder than it sounds. Most authors tend to concentrate on the "troubled past" areas for development, but you show another way in this chapter. Experiencing an event, even as simple as baking a pie from scratch, brings the reader so much closer to the characters, that you can feel what they feel. Empathy for the protagonist is the BEST thing in any story. When they suck you into their life, and you really care about their fate. That is where the true magic of literature lies, and you hit this one out of the park. Well, well done, my friend!

"But I’m willing to take one for the team" Bwahahahahahaha!

"My Lord’s Basilisk is turning you to stone" Bwahahahahahaha!

Thanks for the new chapter!

I hope to read more soon!

This is good! Definitely not a filler, IMHO. This is a.. taste of what they're all.. fighting for. What they desire of the future. Nice contrast to the chaotic lives they usually have. And also, this is a calm before storm. Very nice chapter. I'm eagerly awaiting more!

you say it was not exciting enough. in my opinion that idea is wrong cause it fits the story and makes it for me a fun to read story. one that i actually have rereaded the story a couple of times already and it aint even finished yet. so thumbs up great work

It was good to see Harry get to have a day to relax and just be with friends, so I don't see this as "filler". I really liked how the rat showed his curse, Sirius put Umbridge in her place at his trial, and can hardly wait to see her (& Vernon) get what's coming to them! ;) FYI, there are several 'of''s that should be 'off's.

Another amazing chapter, that while might be considered filler, it was a very well done one. Love the idea of the Greengrass adults helping so much. It is great that Harry is finally getting to see what a real family is all about. Still find the solution for the house elves to be the best one that I have read to date. I can't wait to see where this story leads and look forward to the next chapter. Great work as always. James

I would fight the label of filler simply because it fits so well with the rest of the story. Yes, you're detailing a day wherein nothing goes wrong, but you're also showing beautiful characterization, and each person not only accepting and embracing themselves and what makes them unique, but also reaching out to others to draw them more closely into their lives.

Like almost all of your work, I love it immensely, but I have to say that this particular story resonates with me, and I thank you for writing it.

It great that Vernon Dudley is cursed, It be better if he know why he was cursed.

Thank you.

Filler? Nope. I quite thoroughly enjoyed it. It's easy to bring characters forth and develop plots and stories on strife and conflict, but this rather smooth day was a great read. The staff meeting was illuminating, and Sirius getting therapy was a first for me, and i wonder why i haven't thought of that myself. The "basilisk" event was hilarious and brilliantly written. You're definitely curing my writer's block, simply by being a shining example of how good it can get once you get all your ducks in a row. Pretty Derek and the power of Blue Steel made me grin and wonder when Harry will develop an equivalent.

One thing, though. I know the story is already written and all, but Harry is growing in all sorts of ways. He's pretty much the designated dream boat of Hogwarts and he is indeed male and as you have taken care to determine, straight. I remember being his age and where my mind went with disturbing frequency. In all, where's the testosterone? He has to be making it by the gallon. Boob-induced insanity and belligerence is quite common in the adolescent male. Could it be that he's being stabilized by all the elveses? Just a thought.

Thanks. I'm eagerly awaiting the next one..

I was laughing so hard it took me 5 minutes to continue reading after Pettigrew's last remark.
