Excellent! Firm lines drawn by Dumbledore, yet he is owning up to his guilt, justified punishement, and alot of self realizations by the characters. Loving this versions of Albus, he is wrong and realizing it and trying to do better without laying it all on Harry or someone else.

So is the story done or is there one more chapter?

A most interesting look at "the rest of the story". I do believe that at least part of this was a failure on way too many persons' part to communicate and that leads to all sorts of problems. This Albus is at least honest enough to admit his multiple failings and start working to correct matters; some, like Ron Weasley, don't seem to feel that they've failed. I do like the idea of sub-contracting hunting down and exterminating Tom to the Enclave, that could lead to some colorful situations, especially now that Tom's powerbase is significantly reduced and rendered powerless. Albus comes across as having realized his errors (having them tatooed on you with the equivalent of a 2x4 between the eyes will do that) and I can see him working hard to correct problems in Hogwarts before they have a chance to spread further; correctly the entrenched problems with wizarding Britain is going to take a whole team of people of good will and common cause and will still be quite difficult, but, IMHO, doable.

Finally, welcome back to writing; I don't notice any difference in the quality of your work and find it quite enjoyable, and stimulating, reading.

Well I for one have enjoyed this story so far. I certainly look forward to the next chapter and any after that.

And of course you have changed over time, it's called growth. We all go through it and are effected by it.

Anyone who expects nothing to change has major problems and needs to move on.

Great story for me!!

Bah, Complaints on the style.

Suck it up people, yes it lacks the usual humour.

But at it's core nothing changed. It is still a few minor things twisted around, exploding in a huge result.

now for a proper review, which I rarely give.

Nice twisting of Harry, he worked out nicely, not to overpowered, we know he can get rather focused on things, so this way of using his abbilities is perfectly fine.

Congratulations on Hermione's plot as well, nice handling that. She always should have been ravenclaw in my opinion.

Albus waking up? Finally a good take on political Albus. not an overgod, but just a man trying to find his path again.

Cute sideplot on the mermaid date, a small omake or epilogue shot would be fun with another mention of her.

Fleur, I like her as a character, has a lot of wasted potential, good take on her as well.

Cheers

Very interesting seeing the other side of things :D Will there be a third chapter? Sort of an epilogue-ish?

I think that any complaints you have received about this story are from people who are likely to complain about anything. Thank you for the story.

Ignore the complainers. I liked this, I liked it a whole lot.

I disagree with your claim that you can't write like you used to. This was brilliant.

I have to say that I disagree with you that this isn't as good as your older works. You were one of the first authors I found when I started reading Harry Potter fanfiction years ago and I've read everything you have posted. While this isn't as bright or as "happy ending" as your earlier works I enjoyed it just as much.

I quite look forward to seeing how you finish this out.

On the first part: I'm reminded of a situation with a friend of mine, who was seeing enemy action where enemy action wasn't there. Sometimes it isn't that the world is out to get you. It's that just enough of the world is out to get you that everything is colored to the point where you think it is. That's the point Harry was driven to - where everything seemed like enemy action - and the development and manifestation of Harry's psyche was well done. As for the second part... some people just want to watch the world burn. And sometimes, as Albus demonstrates, the world just needs some creative pyrography. It felt wearying to read. But that's sometimes how life is: going through hell and hoping the light at the end of the tunnel isn't an oncoming train. Overall, an excellent, well-developed work. I don't call it fun, but I do call it worth every moment. Thank you.

Nice story! I loved how you showed how everything wrapped up and why; and that you didn't follow the route of everybody not learning from there mistakes and actually showed remorse that wasn't blown way out of proportion.

I'm both happy and sad that you won't be putting as much time and effort into your stories, but a persons life and the balance in it is important. I hope that you will at least continue posting little by little as the stories are wonderful and deserve to be finished.

still interesting. tell those that don't like it to get a shovel, dig a hole, hop in and pull the dirt over and take a deep breath.

its different and not the same vomitted stories over and over. keep up the good work.

Well I continue to enjoy your efforts and I certainly understand that as time passes ones focus can shift to different pursuits. I wish you success and happiness in your endeavours and will likely continue to enjoy your occasional visit to the HP fanfiction world. Thanks for writing. W.

Great story, both parts. You still manage to evoke a great deal of emotions from your readers.

Anyone that ask for perfection, or is not satisfied, can write their own. I thought chapter one was just fine, and this chapter also, and thank you for them.

Badass Dumbledore! I approve. Regarding the question in the closing note, I choose to look at the events of Chapter 1 as a brutal slap in the face to Dumbledore (and a few others), the kind that makes you reevaluate your life and decisions and leads to lasting change. (Subject to events in Chapter 3, of course.) The wizarding world as a whole? Not so much.

Regarding the opening note, -eyes rolling-. Several people on one mailing list and one forum I read were bitching about Chapter 1 and Harry is evil and blah-blee-bloo... while explicitly stating that they didn't even read the entire chapter because Harry was so despicable. They implicitly stated that they're dumbasses, that they don't know what they're talking about, and that their expressed opinions are about as important as a dog fart. You certainly owe them no apologies or even explanations, not unless they're paying you or you have some other obligation.

Your recent writing is as good as before, I think. Better, maybe. Different feel than your earlier work, certainly, but there's nothing wrong with that. Words per month is down, but having a life is no bad thing, either.

Interesting ways to partially redeem Dumbledore after the fact. If you continue this at all, it will be interesting to see if anyone else manages to get as far

Love this story.

I personally think this is a very good story and really don't know what everyone else is bitching about. I thought it was very good and hope you continue it. Don't listen to the naysayers, especially ones that don't write themselves.
