I haven't cried at a piece of fanfic in a long time. Good show. And the look? I think I got that when I was playing with my nieces about a month after I was married - amid all the dolls and clothes and such I saw some strange look on my wife's face and my sister-in-law's face. I know it well. And the bit with Ron being told to shut it? Brilliant.

Can't wait for the next installment. Here's to hoping it will be around, oh, say ... New Years?

Good Work.

Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you! This is, by far, one of my favorite fics, and I'm so glad to see it's updated! When I heard you were working on a huge update I had danced for joy thinking you were updating "Hope." This is just as good if not better. I don't even mind the unbeta-ed-ness. =)

I love Snape in this story. He's just...great, to put it mildly. Glad to see they finally told Harry about the power of the mind thing he has kicking.

All of the characters in this story are so well written and well developed. Keep up the good work.

Tim,

Just a quick note before I head to bed. I spent part of today re-reading This Means War. I can't wait to find out what happens next. Does harry remember what it is he is forgetting? Is the spy one of the teachers? I think I know who it is, but it will be fun to find out if I am right. As you might know, I don't comment very often, but this was a nice suprise for Christmas. I hope the you had a Happy Christmas and that you and Lacey have a teriffic(sp?) New Year.

yayfor updates! So good to see you writing.

Hope the rest is betaed quickly so I can see what else is happening.

Bravo, and thank you!! Glad to see you got over the public-resonse hump; I still have troubles with it (intimidating, isn't it?).

Vampie? Shouldn't that be "Buffyre the Vampie Slayer"? (in the boilerplate disclaimer below).

I'd guess that this inventive talent of Harry's has something to do with some scars on his hand ("I must not tell lies") forcing anything he says with magical intent into literal truth. Your story is nicely pre-OotP-vague, but OotP was released 21jun03, and TMW! was first posted 16nov03 on fanfiction-<The stories go Xing! just when they're getting good>-dot-net, so it is possible...

Siriusly, thanks for a good read, Tim. My kids're gonna love this update (they've had the chapters-to-date as bedtime story twice already). A Round Tuitt for the next chapter is on its way via MMail (...which has nothing to do with a sick Transfiguration professor, despite appearances).

Wow! An update to TMW!!!! But we STILL haven't gotten to the Quidditch yet! I love this story more and more and I'm beginning to think the Quidditch will happen the day AFTER Harry kills Voldie.

I love you. I love your stories. You are wonderful.

Wow! Loved it! I had to go back and re-read most of chapter nine, and it took me a while to get back into it (I think a few people can agree that reading TMW! requires almost a different mindset than most stories, as it is a completely different style than usual), but I loved it. Definately looking forward to the next installment, and I loved the referenced to pop culture - and the one to Matt! Pure genius.

The wolf bit was great, and that has to be the first one I've seen that makes a difference between wolf and werewolf... and why do I have the feeling that the merging of animal and human will never have been done before and will be another one of Harry's 'didn't know it was impossible so did it anyway' tricks?

It is Soooooo good to see you update this story again. Between it and 'Hope', I don't know which story I wanted you to update more.

This is one of the first storys my son had me read to introduce me to the world of HP FF. I must say you are one of a handfull of 'masters' that do Potter right.

This is one of the most unique stories with the M-Mail. All I can say you are Brill... Well, you get the idea.

Thank you for your update, always looking forward to more.

Rick

YAY!!!!!

I totally love your writing and all of your stories. I especially like the way you have managed to collect some of the best authors around and keep them in a wonderful place.

My Christmas is not complete with this latest chapter. It was fun, exciting, and full of revelations. I love the comment about believing and it will happen. It seems to me that is the simplest way to understand magic. Everything else is simply crutches to help validate the possibility for those whose faith is lacking in strength.

I look forward to reading your next update!

My patience has been justly rewarded with yet another wonderful chapter...great job yet again! I look forward to the next update to this and all of your great stories!

As always, it was absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much for giving all of us the best Christmas present we could have asked for!!
Loved it!!

Ok, maybe we are not worthy of your maestry but I hope you keep feeling generous enough to keep your stories coming.
Thanks for the great part chapter and I almost could see the lines unrolling themselves to meet and wrap the story up.
I'mm be waiting for parts 2 and 3 with or without beta. Better yet: publish them without beta because when the betaed version appears we have another reason to read all of it again.

You kiled Viridian! Now he'll never finish Nightmares of Futures Past! *wail, sob, sob, wail!* LOL

Thanks for the Christmas present, I can't wait for the rest of the chapter. Now, if you'll just finish Wild Horses, the best D/X fic ever, I'll send you a cookie!

Kortir posted a comment on Tuesday 26th December 2006 2:10pm

Very awesome chapter, as anticipated!

I was kind of amused at Viridian's little part in there, even if he died... got something against him for being as good as you? :D

I noticed something that might want to be fixed in beta- when Minerva is talking to Harry about betting in a staff poker game, it is mentioned that she beat Albus with a Full house to his 4-of-a-kind. Double-checking poker rules, though, 4-of-a-kind is one rank above Full house, rather than the other way around.

It looks a lot as if Harry is tiring out faster, both mentally and physically... it's not bad, and makes sense, but I hope now that we're on the final chapter (sorta), the angst will be ending in favor of an overall happy ending. Hopefully?

Nice job taking out Fenrir Greyback, too. Seemed a bit just thrown in there, but he never did deserve to be more significant than a passing death. I'm more interested in seeing that Werewolf cure...

You know, I haven't seen Hagrid in a while. He might not be the favorite character to write about, but it was just something that popped into my mind. Does he even know how to use mmail? Looks like mmail is taking a bit more of a sideshow appearance now than it did originally, too.

But overall, excellent chapter and I'm glad for the extra Christmas present! Yay!

Viridian posted a comment on Tuesday 26th December 2006 1:34pm

I laughed, I cried, I dang near busted a gut.

Among the myriad highpoints:
Harry's distaste for Fenrir Greyback.

The Graduate references during the conversation with Narcissa. (Yes, I was old enough to get them the first time around.) The fact that Narcissa actually bothered to look up the movie afterward was priceless. It was also a good touch that they didn't get all buddy-buddy right away.

I didn't get the Beano references, but that's what I get for being a filthy Yank. = )

Thanks for the informative author notes, by the way!

The only (slightly) jarring note was the 'bomb spell'. If Harry didn't think that the charm was possible, or that his fancy light spell would have that effect, why did his magic go ahead and do it anyway? (The belief-based magery is nicely done overall - I've had a soft spot for that cosmology since playing WW's Mage.)

A final question: No one at Hogwarts objected to Harry 'showing off' his Animagus form in front of a non-secure audience. Were his friends and teachers all in on the fact that he was doing this to establish Narcissa's bonafides?
