I've just finished re-reading this for the 4th or 5th time. I've been reading Potter fan fiction since it started. Saying that just to tell whomever reads these things that I contend that Ginny's revenge prank upon Sirius is one of the best feats of fan fiction ever written by anyone. Ever after many readings each new read brings out a giggles that ought not be heard from a grown man. Jeconais, I truly wish you were busy every hour of every day adding to the likes of This Means War and of course Hope. Both of them have seen me through many an hour of enjoyment. I realize that is probably somewhat impossible, so I just say thank you again for all of your writing efforts. I stand amazed at their brilliance.

I find myself frustrated that I've passed over this story before. I enjoy what you did with Harry and his relationship to his magic. This is slightly different from the way you treated it in Hope and I found they enjoyable. The buildup is nice, and you tied slot of things in without making it overtly overpowered. I did not start this story and expect it to end quite like that.

Hi. I don't know if you still get these reviews or not. But, I've just this past week read Hope and This Means War again. I'm not sure how many times I've done so now. I've probably sent reviews of them before and I'll probably send even more in the future. These two stories are some of the very best fiction available. I know you didn't come up with the Harry Potter books in the first place. Yet I feel in many ways you have surpassed them both books and movies. I so appreciate these and your other works. Thank you so much for your time and efforts. If you ever feel like producing another story like Hope or TMW, by all means, take the time. For my part, you could still sell both stories on Amazon. Many of those who have already read them would probably like the paper versions. Same for any new epics.

I found this to be a very enjoyable read, in spite of your doubts about your plots or characterization. Thank you for writting!

Very nice story...very enjoyable and a nice balance of drama, humor, etc. I'm generally not a fan of Ginny...ok, I dislike her a lot...but you wrote a believable Gin and, perhaps more important, a believable H/G relationship. I note that you stated the style changed a great deal from first to last chapter...honestly I didn't notice that but it was really a looong time from 1 to 10c, and I was reading it in a straight shot! Seriously, this is a long story, but it never dragged. Very impressive. Your style is exceptionally readable, I find it hard to stop reading your stories to do less important things, like sleep, go to work, bathe...
Anyway, another great story, thanks for posting it!

I don't know if you still read these Tim but here goes.
It's funny going back and reading this story after all these years. Looking back and seeing a story that myself and many others would consider a classic; and yet if a newer fanfic author tried to post something like this these days they would be flamed into oblivion.
Have we come so far from the early days of fanfiction (I started with Anya's Naked Quidditch Match) where we now hold fanfic authors to the same degree as a fully fledged published author. I know you yourself have mentioned somewhere that you look back on early stories like this and WKGQ with pride yet some embarrasment at the way you wrote.
Maybe it is because we are older now and more cynical about the world but after reading Blue Steel and the latest chapter of Hogwarts Dawn they seem more real (despite being a story about magic) than this, even though I still love this just like I love some of Old Crows earlier stories.

Rereading this for the umpteenth time. :) Thought you'd like to know that the link in this chapter to the Potter Family Crest is broken.

Yes, the story was all over the place but it is, nevertheless, an epic saga. The creation of mmail led to some of the funniest lines I've read in HP fan fiction. Harry's powers - magical and leadership - were extreme, but even the viewing earth from outer space scene worked.
Inclusion, non-discrimination, basing an opinion of people on what they do not who they are, the beauty and effectiveness of team work, and the benefits of having a positive philosophy are just a few of the themes you examined. You actually made Snape, Bellatrix and Narcissa believable as reformed Dark siders. What you did with Snape was a hoot, but the change in Narcissa was even more impressive.
And I agree that as much as Harry might want to retire to the background, it ain't gonna happen. He definitely will be accessed by Percy, Amelia, Shack, the twins, even Dumbles on occasion, and he's also sure to whisper in the leaders' ears when he sees something that isn't being done or shouldn't be done.
The myriad themes, the sometimes hilarious mmail exchanges, and the epic scale of this story still makes it one of my very favorites in HP fan fiction. Thanks to you and your betas for all the work you put into this unique story.

This is one of my all time favourite fanfics to come back to after a year (or even a few dozen other fics read) once the details get fuzzy.
Been along for the ride since near the beginning. :D
