interesting chapter. It makes me think.

What I really love about it, is the character "Molly" and her ability to listen and make you feel welcome. On the other hand, the portrayal of Spike rubs me wrong somehow. Could be, that I read to many stories in which he is Xander's friend (e.g. "hera's list" by toots).

I'm rather torn about the "Big-Brother-is watching-you"-method employed. Yes, I do see its use in this story and in real life. I just see the potential misuses as well and that bothers me.

Buffy believes Spike has changed and is on the side of good without any doubts, and without any testing, like for example courtship. Marriage without (re-)dating? And did they checked that Spike truly has soul? Converts (true) are great, but you don't give leading the organization to new convert, even the most zealous one; it is just not done. It is strange that Buffy believes Spike over Dawn, without trying to check facts first.

Well, it is strange to read Spike portraited in such a way, after reading some time ago "A Watcher's Son" by Clea Saal, where Spike is needed part of the team, and is actually pulled from some kind of Heaven.

Hmmm... it doesn't help that I haven't watched "Buffy: the Vampire Slayer" series at all, only read some fanfiction?

As in Buffyverse the technology and science is much more advanced, perhaps Xander could get artificial eye bionic implant, for example with thermal imaging added. As to firearms agaist vampires, I wonder how would buckshot (like Slaser Safety Slug) with combined hard wood (like ironwood, hickory, mahogany, ebony or oak), blessed silver, blessed lead or incidentary ammo fare. Or modern shoulder-cock crossbow (or repeating crossbow). Or water pistol/rifle filled with holy water, with garlic extract and some silver component added (this in addition is totally human safe, as opposed to stakes - see Faith case). Or magnesium flare or other UV projector (good approximation of sunlight).

Oh well, back to reading the story...
