'It comes from when Muggles wore hats a lot, and keeping something there was out of sight' - actually I believe the expression comes not from hiding things under hats but what the hat covers, the head/mind. If you keep a secret, you're keeping it in your mind and so under your hat.

Oh, that was so sweet.

That was LOVELY! I love little Sammy! She is so sweet. And also quite original. No-one that I've read, apart from Horst Pollmann over at Schnoogle, has really explored the psychology of Vela Children. Brilliant!

The constant vigilance quotes cracked me up. Harry as the next Dumbledore is rather a foregone conclusion but the twinkling made me giggle as did all the pop culture references and his way of taking down 30 aurors so easily. Loved Sammy's bit at the end too. Great story.

That was nice. I like warm and fuzzy.

"Smoke me a kipper; I’ll be back for breakfast."

At least I get some of the references.

That Jeconais, "What a guy!"

I enjoyed the story. Here's a minor nit:

"It is," Fleur said proudly, her cheeks still rosy. "In eight months, three weeks, Sammy will have a brother."

Actually, a woman is never just one week pregnant or two weeks pregnant. For historical reasons, pregnancy is measured from her last menstrual period, even though we now know that conception and implanation of the embryo doesn't take place until later.

You could, of course, justify it by muttering something about magic, or about veelas taking a week or two extra to have children, but it seems like an easy enough thing to fix. I'd suggest keeping it vague, as the easiest correction here -- I forget the time frame of the story, but if it's set during the summer, then you can have Fleur say "in the spring, if all goes well, Sammy will have a brother."

However, given that a lot of pregnancies prove non-viable (more than half miscarry so early that the woman doesn't even know she was pregnant; at most, her menstrual period may be a day or two late), I'm surprised Fleur is so confident.

Red Dwarf! I love it!

Great Story. I love Sammy. I think she'll do very well for herself.

I look forward to the end of the trilogy.

Another well written piece! I loved this chapter... The entire ruse around the training exercise was definitely something that I see Ginny pulling. I do feel a little sorry for Ginny, though, going up again such stiff competition as Sammy... :)

Jec, Well done and well written as your stuff is. Though I gotta say, you need to work on finishing stuff up and not leave us hanging in a bunch of different stories ;-) Keep it coming!

Took me weeks to read this.

Getting a password takes you to a blank page.

Logging in gets a blank page.

Trying again asks your birthday which leads to a blank page

Trying again asks your consent leading to a blank page

Trying again actually brought up the story to read.

I'm using firefox mozilla, but the problem seems to be the html code, with the form action ending "&refer=" without referring to anything.

I like this better than the story its a sequel to, if that makes any sense. I especially liked Sammy. There has been a lot of discussion about the realism of Harry accepting Ginny after the manipulation, especially with his reaction to Dumbledore. I see it more as a difference between level of importance... one manipulation lasted most of his childhood, the other lasted a few months with him as the target rather than the manipulated one. Goood work overall... I especially like the game of capture the flag.

I rather like this set of stories. Love Sammy. I like the realism and how this Harry is becoming balanced and mature. He's a good man.

Cute! I like it, even though I don't particularly like Ginny...
