Wow. Very harsh. But I must say Dumbledore kind of deserves what he gets. Poor Harry! He just gets abuse piled on abuse and is still expected to save the world...

Good story. I would call it great, but it's got me slightly depressd at the moment. Your writing makes me live the emotions in them, through Harry. You are one of the few that write well enough to make me LIVE the stories I have read. Hope your stories I haven't read are half as good as the ones I have.

Excellent. Not a fun fic, but one with which I completely agree. Dumbledore has (okay, had) a lot to answer for.

I always found this story interesting. I don't know why, but it has always piqued my curiosity, causing me to read it repeatedly just to see if I missed something. It gives off a darker essence each time you read it, too. I guess its because you know what's coming and that makes everything much more dramatic, I guess.

I'd love to read another no shipper from you, although I'd hope it's a little lighter.

BTW: Are you ever going to update your Harry/Gabrielle story ot TMW? I love those.

Holy Shit! This is a powerful story, and very orginal. Having read many fanficts this one shows a very human Harry not some superpowered one or dark Harry. But as someone who has been betrayed and broken beyond the point of no return. Good work.

Very powerful piece.

It's just so... horrible.

That thing with Remus and...

I hate it how Dumbledore can be evil, pathetic, saintly, heroic, sage, insane... he can be pretty much anything. I don't understand how so much can be done with a single character.

I dunno... Bravo, anyway.

That is a very sad and grim story, but the question at the end is very true. A well written and well worth reading story.

Wow. This was amazing. (I also read 'The Abyss', but didn't leave a review. >.< Sorry.)

You should write more stories like 'The Abyss' and 'Despair'. You write Angst and Tragedy so well. (Actually, you write all genres well! ;w; XD)

Awesome job, as always. Keep it up! (And I'm hopeing for an update of 'This Means War'! *Grin*)

Ok, let me try again to write a review and not screw up the posting.

As I was saying, this is a very dark but very believable fic. I liked the way that in the end it was Voldemort and his Death Eaters who avenged Harry. I also liked Harry finally laying down the plain truth about Snape.

If the only lie he held against Ron and Hermione was not telling him that they were lovers, that seems a little harsh, but I guess by that time he had no tollerance left.

Naturally, I suspect every reader is going to enjoy the thought of Umbridge using a blood quill for the rest of her life.

All in all -- great fic!

I did notice that somewhere in there you wrote "you're" when you meant "your", but now I can't seem to track it down again.

(BTW, either your Quote button isn't working or I'm not using right, somehow.)

*sniff*. I love it! It's really sad, and there is plenty of Dumbly-bashing which I have come to like lots.

This may be the best fic I've ever read. It was short, but the bitterness of the content conveys more expression and emotion then the longest sterotypical I love you fic. It was beautiful. Thank you.

whoa. whoa! wow. jeconais, this is a masterpiece. short. simple. i would say sweet, but sweet isn't really the right word this piece. i like the questions that voldie raises, and the thought provoking way you wrote it. draco was also quite believeable.

Bottom Line: wow. it made me think. :)

nurray posted a comment on Friday 24th June 2005 8:49am for Despair

I find this story disturbingly compelling. It is quite sad, even disgusting in the abuse implied for Harry to get into that state and yet it has an undenialable power.

I suppose part of its power is that so much of the background is taken directly from the published books without changes so that this senario is quite possible.

Dumbledore does thinkup a solution to a problem and never revisits it or checks up on it.

Congratulations, a story I cannot say I like but I cannot say it is a bad story at all. Well written and intense.

Good. I liked it. Depressing, but incredibly well written. I loved it. Now on to some more Harry Ginny fics. Yay!
