Main page update

Jeconais posted on Tuesday 30th March 2010 8:01am

I've updated the main www.fanficauthors.net page, with the oft-requested feature - Show all stories.  Clicking the more link next to every update will show you every story an author has written.

I generally read on this site on my commute on my iPhone. As the display is rather small, I usually crank the text up to 30pt. I only mention this as I can no longer make out the titles and dates on the front page. The increased font size causes the blue box that hold the author's name to cover the gradient. The end result is the white text is displayed against a white background.

I can't imagine that there are many people experiencing this particular confluence of issues. Thus, this is more of a FYI that a large font size set in Display Options may lead to visibility concerns than an "OMFG you must fix it now!!!1!"

Jeconais replied:

Yeah, just upped my font size and had a look at it - I've had other complaints as well, so I've removed the background temporarily and changed the font to black.

Looks good, except that the author's name is no longer a link to the home page. Was that intentionally deleted?

Jeconais replied:

Kinda, yes - as the links in the drop downs took you there. As this has been requested, I've made the names into links again.

On second thoughts - check that - it's fine after a cache clear and a refresh (should have thought of that before posting, sorry!)

Hi - the front page doesn't seem to list the authors in order of most recent update as it did before (eitherthat or it's affected by the fact there is only one author per line now...)

On second thought, it's partially solved. I had adjusted my font size, which seems to mess up the standard layout of the index pages and disable the 'Show all stories' function. Resetting that size solves the problem, oddly enough.

Jeconais replied:

What font size where you using? I checked it in Chrome (which is my default windows browser) and it worked - so I'd like to see if I can duplicate the problem.

I've noticed that the layout and javascript of the site don't seem to work in Google Chrome (version 4.1.249.1042). Just thought I should at least notify the problem.
