This was really hard to read. I hate when the main characters are broken, and make no mistake, both Harry and Gabrielle were broken. They just channeled it into their cause. Good that they started healing afterwards though.

I genuinely appreciate this story. I enjoy the pairing. It is like an well balanced Cabernet Franc and dark chocolate. The story is well-written with a few pin holes which the average reader cannot detect.

I just came across this, and wow. For some reason, I pictured Harry and his squad dressed like the Ocelot Unit from MGS3, and Gabrielle in a white Sneaking Suit like The Boss from the same game. Not sure why; maybe 'cause the Aurors were portrayed as more like the Howling Commandos/Rifle Brigade than anything.

The way Gabrielle reacted after the battle, I can relate to. Several years ago, there was a death in the family, and I was able to keep it together throughout the funeral, memorial service, etc. It was two days later that I just fell to pieces and just let my grief out like a floodgate. Fortunately, I was alone at the time, but at that point, I could've been on a Jumbotron at an arena, but not cared at all. All the pain and tears just blasted out at once.

As to the "Is This" question, it is "all the above", and it is a tale of completion. Not only by them completing the task of ridding the world of Voldemort, but in finding in themseves as a kindred spirit, and complete understanding. Whether they take it beyond that will be for another tale (and needless to say, it will be up to them), but now is the time for healing and peace. Thank You. TTFN

Where did this one come from? I thought I had read all your stories some time back, but saw this story listed on one of the HP fan sites and thought I'd check it out, and I'm glad I did. A very touching, painful story of how things could have been.

I'm glad to see you putting Hermione and Neville together. They seem to fit together under the circumstances.

Harry and Gabrielle need each other after what they have gone through. It will take more than two weeks for the healing to take place, but it's a start.

This is the most touching story i have ever read and i truly respect your mental maturity for writing something like this. I wish you would turn it into a multi chapter fic or atleast a sequel though i know in my heart that this sotry dosent need something like a sequel or more chapters. Lovely little fic. You're right - the plot holes would be too much in a "real" fic, but for a short story like this, it works.
I particularly appreciate the rather more epic nuances in this compared to the original - Manticores, sword-fights, a Horcrux hidden in Hell... Though I can't help but think that Hell is the *last* place you want to hide your Soul Anchor in...
