Matryoshka Vignettes
By Jeconais
Wow. Poor Minerva. And I really do mean that. Hogwarts as a whole should not be untrustworthy. I don't think Dumbles should be headmaster there any longer, though.
Sorry, I like this serie but :
"McGonagall pursed her lips, a disturbingly familiar response to a situation she found unacceptable. She had a strong suspicion about what Albus was speaking to Neville about, and it was something
that should have been discussed with her first.
Although, judging from Seamus’ polite, yet obviously negative response,"
Who is Albus talking with ? Seamus or Neville ? I'm confused.
This was different, and I like that. I was starting to think your chapters were falling into a pattern, and while it was a fun pattern, it was somewhat predictable. Presenting the perspective of a
character who could respect the Potters but wouldn't bend to them was a nice variation on that.
I also liked that this chapter presented McGonagall with a true, deep moral dilemma. And I think you made the right call having her turn away from Harry and Daphne. I couldn't see her with any first
loyalty but to that of her school and her students.
I think it's that shades-of-gray factor that really draws me to this chapter. You've shown that a character can align him/herself with the establishment without being blind or evil or even misguided.
I can't recall seeing that in your novel-lengths before so kudos for being willing to take a step away from your everything-comes-together approach.
So, anyway, thanks as aways.

Ah... just realised that it might be a different author. Sorry. Still, the mistake is a valid one...
I love your stories, and am curious to see what you will come up with next. The Cremation of Sam McGee is one of my favourite poems, and it's nice to see a tip of the hat to it, as you don't see it very often. Just one small point. You appear to regularly confuse omnipotence with omniscience. In this chapter you said... "To Harry’s credit, he didn’t immediately claim omnipotence." What you have actually said is that Harry didn't claim to be all-powerful. Omnipotence is all-powerful, omniscience is all-knowing... I believe you made the same mistake in The Darkness, and possibly a couple of others too...
Very good and touching ending to Minvera's part.
Aaah, McGonagall totally rocks in this. She's great. I always loved her.
“So that when I finally pass on, I can look your parents in the eye and tell them that I did not fail you.”
Most poignant moment of any literature I have ever read. Simply beautiful.
Outstanding.

Awwww, sad! I know that the Potters will reward her sufficiently.
That was rather bittersweet.
The guest authors have done very well. Quite the project. Keep up the good work.

(Anyone else catch the line from Robert Service?)
I do hope Minerva gets a wonderful surprise, and discovers that H&D wants her to be part of their lives, they do, after all, want her to be Headmistress? Anyway, I loved how she stood up to
Dumbledore. Will he ever get it?
Cheers!
Not that I want to be a nitpicker, esp. not after now having all these lovely vignettes up, but isn't there some confusion between Seamus and Neville in the opening scene of this one?
As always, this got me pretty teary at the end.
This is my favorite of all the Vignettes. :)
Thank you, Draco, for writing it and thank you, Tim, for posting it.

I really enjoyed reading the finished versions of these stories. I also wanted to point out the beginning portion where Dumbledore is talking to a Gryffindor student. The story alternates between calling him Seamus and Neville.

Very good chapter.
