The calendar tells me it's summer, but the weather is not cooperating. What better way to lift my spirits than rereading one of my favourite AU adult Harry fics? I know I've said it before, but I do love your stories. And I hope we'll get to read more after you've settled in Scotland. May it be a smooth move!

Gabrielle and Harry... That's a pairing I've never seen before. Interesting. I'll have to see how it plays out but great work so far!

Ok this is probably an odd question but I really hope you know the answer. I recently got a kindle for Christmas which is cool - except everytime I'm online to read fanfic I'm getting comments from parents on how I must not like kindle etc. So I was wondering if you knew how to send the story in one of the available formats to a kindle? I would love to save it as one of my books - which would make parents AND me happy! lol

I stumbled across your little profile and story on the fanfiction site. I wasn't aware they had banned song lyrics, I hav seen so many fics that still have them, and the staff do not seem to care. But that is neither here nor there. Getting back on topic, I followed the virtual "breadcrumbs" and came across this. I have got to say, I am impressed at the quality of the stories on this site. There are some really devoted authors that really know what they are writing about. Though I will not be swearing of fanfiction (the site) like you have, I will nevertheless be checking back here periodically for updates. Thank you for your kind attention to a humble reader like me. Cheers!
PS, the review, and go to next chapter button has a typo. don't know if you noticed...

I think it was started by the bird brains stealing some eggs. Good thing Merpeople are fish, it would be a shame to lose our favorite cheerleaders.

This is the first Harry/Gabrielle story I took the time to read. I usually dismiss them in favor of Harry/Fleur stories if I need a Veela fix.
That said, this is the last time I will EVER read a story featuring a specific pairing by Jeconais before reading anything else, as I'm quite certain I will compare every story I read after this to Hope and find them lacking in every way.
I fancy myself a fairly loquacious individual, and all appearances aside, I find myself unable to adequately describe this story. Excellent job. Please grace the world of fan fiction with more of your masterful work.

it is really good to see others creativity and i really like how this is starting it is the most romanicle adventurous beginning to a tale i have ever read i think. it is funny, sweet, and exactly the title just a girl and a boy holding to nothing but HOPE. the one thing that can break someone or make someone. HOPE...HOPE...HOPE. even when i say it slow it still doesnt lose its meaning the only thing that many cling to, to save there lives. but now i am speaking to deep even for this wonderful beginning to a tale. PLEASE keep writing cause i love it, it is so great. sorry i must say it again. the one thing that helps me and so many others get up in the morning for HOPE.

I just want to say that this is about my second or third time rereading this particular story and that 1) You're good at writing 2) I enjoy it and 3) It can be a real pick me up for when people are feeling down.
Thanks

Interesting premise. I assume that this won't be incorporating aspects of DH or HBP, right?

This is an interesting twist. Now we learn just why Harry never seems to have any relationships.

Tim,
Here I am, taking another leap into the rough waters of a non-H/G fic, but in this case you knew exactly how to greet me. In the first segment I almost felt like I was reading a first-person perspective on The Season (may it rest in peace in the land of long-forgotten fics).
Jesting aside, though, Harry's spectacular injury and the media circus were pretty darn clever ways to start a story. They're the perfect excused to get Harry out of familiar places, giving you control over the setting as the as the action. And if it's one thing I've learned about your stories, it's that literary freedom is something you exploit well.
I definitely enjoyed Hermione and Ron's clever and manipulative efforts to convince Harry to go to France, and I was pleasantly amused to see Dobby show up in this like he did in WKGQ. I'm also intrigued by Gabrielle, especially in her incredibly organized approach to understanding Harry. It almost seems like you're mixing Fleur's attributes with Hermione's attention to detail, which is certainly a combination with a lot of potential.
I also rather appreciated Gabrielle listing Hermione alongside Cho as the major women in Harry's life. But if she's got every clipping from the Daily Prophet, what else is she going to think?
What didn't I like? Well, this is the third novel-length fic of yours that I've read, and in all three your female lead has committed herself to Harry before he even knows she's interested in him. Admittedly, that makes the most sense here, where you've got the freedom of working with a non-human character, but I would have been nice to see a little variation in the routine.
The secret bargaining before Harry even comes into the story is also something you've done before, and in this case I was somewhat put off by how readily Hermione joined in. I appreciated Ron's resistance and can even understand how eventually came to agree, but Hermione never even tried to stand up for Harry. Is she so perspective that she immediately concluded the plan would be in his best interest?
Really, though, those are pretty esoteric complaints. All in all, I think you've set a very interesting stage so far. I look forward to seeing what you do with it.

Finally I get to read this... now that this is pretty much complete and I won't drive myself to the brink of madness waiting to find out what happens next!
(Not a bash on the time between chapters, but a commentary on how addictive your writing can be! David Eddings prompts the same restraint before I'll buy the first book in a new series, so you're in good company...)
It's interesting that Ron is the voice of reason and responsibility in that discussion... but it makes sense that he would see Harry's viewpoint better. Hermione seems to want what's best for people, whether they do or not, and that hasn't changed. You let Ron grow up - bravo!
The byplay between the Golden Trio in Harry's flat was also nicely done. Adult friends who've known each other for years and years get this comfortable around each other - if they are lucky. It also complements the earlier scene and reinforces that they both really do want to help Harry (making the deception more palatable).
The summary at the very end was also nicely done, and makes Gabby a much more sympathetic character.

So, i finished TMW and read some of your other stories but i fianlly am out of things to read and then it occured to me "HOPE"! So, now i'm reading this! YIPPE for me. I like it so far. i was wondering, though, ni the majority of your stories that i've read, dumbledore is portrayed almost as evil. is there a reason for that?
