Ah, RIP Draco, mon dieu(Yay French, all hail the holy(and may I add cunning, ambitious, brave, smart, and beautiful) Gabrielle Potter(My favorite pairing)). Honestly, I just write these reviews as they pop into my head, which should explain a lot to you. Anyways, after the first couple chapters of a story, my reviews do start to get shorter, as I get interested more and more in the story. I'm still loving it, keep doing what you're doing(That is, writing great stuff at a decent pace, if you're slacking off or quitting, don't continue that).

That's a fun way to deal with Malfoy. Go Gabbi!

A couple of things...
Firstly, do you know the song "One" from "Chorusline"? because I had an image of a stag in tophat, tails and cane dancing to that song with a couple of dozen tapdancing stags as back up - a highly amusing, if not slightly disturbing image, i can assure you!
Also... You're not by any chance a professional clairevoyant are you? Because you appear to have predicted the credit crunch and the banks' responses with a rather startling level of accuracy!

Well, it's a good read, either way.

"That it is going to be a lot of fun; I can watch the fireworks from a safe difference."

I suppose you mean "distance," but hey, the rest of the story flows just fine. Definitely a good read.

Hi, This is quite a contrast to your last but it is still placing Harry in the Alpha position and having a lot of fun with it. I am avidly anticipating the next installment of this new version of Harry Potter

Again a nice chapter to this new twist. I will be waiting for the next chapter to have "Potter" pranks in it so don't disappoint.
Happy writing

4 Chapters in 28 hours is easy. In one of my stories I did 6 or 7 chapters to one day. Though admittedly a Time Turner was involved and the day was repeated 7 times.

Love where they story is going keep writing your readers need more.

This was definitely an interesting twist of manipulation, but with 48 hours left, there doesn't really seem to be all that much to the underlying story. There is no great evil here, so what exactly is the point? It's kind of like a sweap up operation 8 years later to tidy up what should have happened had Harry not fallen asleep, and he has the added bonus of having Gabrielle as a girlfriend, which seems to be more alligned with the personality type that Harry was prior to OOTP.

I normally like to let a few chapters pile up before reading updates so that I can sate my belly with a glut of story and appreciate better the continuity of the piece as it was meant to be read.

The past three chapters were fun. Not deep, soul-changing literature, but happy fun that doesn't make me regret the time spent. (In that regard, it's already far ahead of most fanfiction). It's too early to tell where HAE will rank relative to the author's other auspicious novels, but I think it's safe to say that at its worst, it will still be a darned good story.

Gabrielle is by far the most interesting character. She's showing a slightly deeper, more insane side than I was expecting. I find her intriguing, a counterweight to Harry, who is largely the bland, whirlwind, take-charge bloke we saw in TMW, but without the occasional moments of self-doubt and introspection. (It's still early in the story, though, so we're still getting acquainted with the characters).

A few things seemed a little off to me. Harry's goading Malfoy into self-destruction, for instance. A subtle politico, Malfoy should have been more careful than to hurl an AK over a couple of verbal insults in front of witnesses. Dismissing Fudge so quickly also seemed a mite too convenient. The story is a fairy tale, granted, but it still needs a few tendrils of plausibility. Finally, Prof. McGonagall's choice of language, while entertaining, was a bit too "out of character" for me--it broke the metaphor and reminded me I was reading a Jeconais story.

I'm hoping to see more made of Gabrielle's insanity later in the piece. While it'd be over the top to portray her as a ruthless Annie Wilkes trying to conform the world to idyllic images of Prince and Princess perfection, the existential crisis of her reconciling a dose of harsh reality would be good for her and would offer the reader a bit of palate cleansing from the saccharine goodness (which can get a bit thick at times).

In all, this is an entertaining story and one of only a few (jbern's pair are the others) I'm following at present. I look forward to the next installments.

Jeconais replied:

This is not a soul changing piece - it's meant to be a frantic four days in Harry's life. I actually wrote this... close to two years ago now, although it has had some surgery since then. I wrote the original five chapters in a week, and the rest took some time.

In a way, this story is best rest as a whole, and maybe I should have just posted it as one giant piece. The chapter endings are a little forced.

I take your point about Minnie (and I do refer to it later) but it's just like in TMW - I go for the cheap laugh rather than the deep introspective.

A lot of this story is about Gabrielle ... and actually the plot (because what's a fairy tale without a dragon?) revolves around how she sees the world.

As for Malfoy, he isn't a subtle politico at all. He had no one to teach him t be subtle - Lucius was dead, and anyone who stood in his way got trampled by his boot-lickers. As for his political interference... well, that comes up again, when I explain what really happened.

Thanks for the review.

There is something weird about a story that feels like it should start with and they lived happily ever after like this.

Bad Meg! Took so long to review! Well, I'm just happy I got this chapter loaded before my power crapped out again. :D It was quite the delight, and took my mind off of insane storms.

Unless I have the chance to reread soon, the one thing that's standing out more than 24 hours later is Harry finally understanding. I enjoyed Gabbi's introspection, too, but the simplicity in Harry clicking with what makes Gabbi tick, and his role in that was just...whoa. Gave me shivers. :)

Thanks for The Chapter That Got Me Though A Power Outage. ;)

Well, I never thought I'd say this ... but I was pleased to see Draco. It added a bit of ... dissension? ... to the story, a small blip to the otherwise uninterrupted procession of only good things happening. The bit of action helped stir things up a bit as well.

"I’m all ready for an argument, and she pops my balloon neatly, and before I know it I’m cooking tea and wondering what I was upset about." -- thank goodness you at least dispensed with the 'fighting makes for a good relationship' nonsense, good on you. I'd much prefer to see a permanently happy/grinning Ron & Hermione.

I like the continual mentions of how Hermione marshalled Harry's care and sleep learning, buying his clothes, et cetera. Such a good and caring friend!

Fudge was simple - well, so far - but Harry's reference to 'any attempt by the Ministry to shut us down in some way' has me wondering if some more 'action' - political turmoil, anyway - might be in the future for this story?
